Writing an eBook

Writing and publishing an ebook online can be a time consuming process if you don't plan ahead to begin with.

I learnt this the hard way. Thanks to this website, there is no need for you to go through the same experience. The fact is that my learning curve went from very shallow to practically vertical just by taking the time to find out what other people had done.

In other words I did what I should have done to start with - some research into the whole business of writing an ebook.

Some of this information was free, some I had to pay for, and some that I did pay for was a complete waste of money. But there was also some stuff that I now regard as essential reading and which helped me a great deal with what I was trying to do.

In short it showed me what to write, how to write it, and which tools to write it with.

Just learning those three things will save you time, money and a lot of headaches. And that brings me to something I want to emphasise - don't spend any money just yet.

There is a wealth of ebook software available on the internet, from templates through compilers to virtual cover design software. Much of it is very good. Some of it is not. But in every case the marketing is superb - which means that you may well be tempted to part with your dollars based on marketing hype alone and some very carefully constructed graphics.

Throughout these pages I have tried to provide free information sources as well as software recommendations that have a free trial period. In fact, some of the software is completely free, period. It will pay you to check these out before opening your wallet.
